Iconic Eye Care is the culmination of a vision (pardon the pun) for Dr. Adam Ramsey. Born and raised on the islands of Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean, Dr. Ramsey dreamed of becoming a doctor and helping people. Setting his sights (again, our apologies) on becoming an optometrist, he graduated from the University of Florida and went on to Southern College of Optometry (SCO) in Memphis, Tennessee where he obtained his Doctorate of Optometry.
While practicing Optometry at several optical retailers, Dr. Ramsey fell in love with more than his new bride, but great eyewear too. He wanted to open his own store where each eyeglass and sunglass was picked based on style and craftsmanship instead of whatever corporate optical giants decided the frame of the year was. Dr. Ramsey knew what Palm Beach residents wanted and liked. Thus Iconic Eye Care was born.
When the space at Main Street at Midtown in Palm Beach Gardens became available, Dr. Ramsey knew the time to open his own store had arrived. From the moment you step inside you will know you are at a new kind of optical store, one where you feel at home, surrounded by the best eyeglasses and sunglasses in all of West Palm Beach.
Take a look at what we have in store for you today!
Meet Dr. Adam Ramsey
I love being able to interact with people. Any profession that kept me in a box would not work well for my outgoing personality. I love the ability to make an immediate impact in my patient’s lives. I love optometry since most people are happy to come see you, and usually leave happy as well. We help people see good and look good. That makes for a very happy and productive day in my book.
I get up in the morning happy about the affect i get to have on the world. I get to educate and my patients about their eyes. I love it when patients tell me how much their new eyeglasses or contacts have had a positive impact on their lives like one young man whose grades went from D’s and F’s to B’s and C’s, within a short month. That is the sort of news from my patients that makes me smile!
I am especially proud of what I get to do outside of the office and have a hand in making a positive impact in the community. Some of the activities I am involved in include, career days, health fairs, and mentoring.
Doctor Adam Ramsey was born on the island of Trinidad and Tobago, located in the Western Caribbean. He graduated from The University of Florida Cum Laude with a degree in Health Education. Dr. Ramsey then graduated from Southern College of Optometry (SCO) in Memphis, Tennessee where he obtained his Doctorate of Optometry. While at SCO, Adam served as Vice-President of the National Optometric Student Association and Florida Optometric Student Association.
I always enjoy meeting, talking to and helping people. Being in the optometric field enables me to all that and more. I love helping people pick the right frame and the right lenses that best suit their needs, all while exchanging great stories back and forth. Having helped people for over 30 years, I have had many a customer follow me as I have moved to new practices and have more than a few customers who have grown up and brought their children to me to help them . I have loved watching these people grow up to become such wonderful adults and hope someday I can help their grandkids with their optical needs as well. Growing up in the business I have seen a lot of styles come and go and come back again. I am most appreciative of the wonderful advances in progressive lenses however. The lenses we sell are so lightweight and so comfortable, I often forget I am wearing my eyeglasses and start looking for them while wearing them.
I got into optical right after high school. While I have tried other fields over the years I found myself drawn back to the rewards of helping people see. I love the look on my customer’s faces when they try on that perfect pair of eyeglasses. That goes for each one of my customers, whether they are 5 or 85. I remember one little girl in particular that despite her parents pleas just couldn’t sit at the desk while we tried on different eyeglasses. She preferred the floor. I grabbed the frames we wanted to try and sat cross-legged with her, the mirror on the floor, until we found that perfect pair both she and her parents were excited about. I think I had more fun than she did. I love wearing great eyewear. There is something so fun about selecting eyeglasses that match my mood and my outfits every morning. I am an optical geek for sure.
